Super Mario: Endless Earth is an open-world 2D Mario game. Explore a gigantic world and attempt to track down Bowser’s hidden fortresses to rescue the all-powerful Eternal Star Shards. There are eight objectives, replacing the worlds from previous Mario games, and each one contains a unique fortress level with multiple routes.

It has a fully scripted story with opening and closing cutscenes. Bowser has invaded a world hidden within the stars, and it’s up to Mario to stop him from using the power the Eternal Star within to cause great calamity. New Super Mario Bros. has been heavily modified into a whole new beast of a game.

This hack is the fifth and final New Super Mario Bros. hack by MarioFanatic64, it is the end of the chronology of hacks as a collective series and the author's own interpretation of Mario's final adventure.

Gameplay

In this game, you get to explore a whole new realm of the Mushroom World - not in levels, or small, chopped up segments of gameplay, but as one gigantic seamless world that's almost...endless!

In the game world, you don’t have any set direction to head in. It's not just about heading straight for the goal - it's how you decide to get there that matters.

You can head in any direction you like. Up, down, left, right - nowhere is off limits.

You have to locate the goal. You'll progress by completing missions, by finding and conquering in-game fortresses.

There are eight missions in the game. Power Stars replace the role of Star Coins - with 120 scattered throughout the game world in each game. Though they won't count for anything (your Power Stars won't be saved), they are a reward for curiosity and exploration.

The game is structured in a very similar way to Kirby & the Amazing Mirror or the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES- in that you start off in a big world, and to progress you have to reach a fortress and such.

In a 2D plane, this kind of gameplay is often referred to as reminiscent of games like Metroid and Castlevania, so if that's your thing, get ready for a Mario Metroidvania!

FAQ

Q. What is a ROM?

A ROM file contains a game - it's the file in the cartridges that your Nintendo DS console runs whenever you play a game. These can be dumped from the game cartridges, and there are various ways to run them as they are.

You'll be able to play ROMs using an emulator on PC or Android, or on real hardware using a Nintendo DS/3DS flashcart.

Q. It's not working. What am I doing wrong?

If you don't know what you're supposed to be doing, patching and playing Super Mario Endless Earth may be difficult.

If you need more information about ROMs, emulators or flashcarts there is a lot of information to read on Google.

Q. I found an error. What do I do?

Don't worry, errors happen. Every now and then, you might encounter something weird in the hack like missing sound effects, or something that doesn't seem to be working right.

If you want something done about it, report the error on Discord.

Q. Is this a virus/some sort of scam?

Don't worry, this isn't harmful. You may have to be cautious of how you obtain the New Super Mario Bros. DS ROM, but this hack itself is perfectly fine and risk free. It's 100% free to play and download, so if you did pay money to download this file you have been scammed. You should only have downloaded this hack from the official source such as nsmbhd.net, romhacking.net and mfgg.net.

Q. Can I get in legal trouble if I play this hack?

As long as you currently own a legitimate copy of New Super Mario Bros. DS and a Nintendo DS system, you should have nothing to worry about.

This is a not-for-profit fanmade project and in no way it condones Video Game Piracy.

Known issues

  • Frame Drops/Slowdown in Cloud/Mushroom world.
  • Potential for crashes in certain Views in the Cloud/Mushroom world.
  • Music doesn't switch back to Stereo after cutscene, only plays from one speaker. (Avoidable if cutscene is skipped before music plays).
