This is a patch for Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns that allows the player to romance any bachelor or bachelorette regardless of their gender (not a sprite swap).

Features

• Gender restrictions for dating characters has been removed.
• Most of the game's dialogue has been edited to ensure the player is referred to and treated as their proper gender.
• Various love events have been revised to suit a same-gender player (e.g. Kasumi's dark blue and yellow events).
• You can choose any bachelor/bachelorette at romantic festivals.
• Some events have completely new original dialogue added for same-gender relationships (e.g. DLC event Chatting With Friends).
• A rainbow in the main title screen.
• Compatibility with Trio of Town's free v1.1 update, and compatibility/edits for DLC-only events.
• Compatible with the 3DS emulator Citra.
• Optional patches:
  • Recolors for the player's wedding attire.
  • A gender switch for Inari to make them the same gender as the player.
  • Compatibility for the Hamtaro & Cheburashka Restoration Patch.

Installation

Compatibility notes

LayeredFS:

• LayeredFS is no longer supported as an installation method as of v5.0 of TLE.
• Instead, this patch has been merged with Trio of Town's free 1.1 update CIA (USA only).
• If you're updating from v4.2.1 or below you'll have to remove the old patch files from LayeredFS for Trio of Towns.

HANS:

• Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is not compatible with Hans and there is no working method to get this patch on your 3DS without CFW.
• It is highly recommended to install CFW using this guide.
• If you do not want to install CFW, you can use the 3DS emulator Citra on your PC.

xDelta Patch

Verify your ROM file:

• This method will only work on a specific CIA, it won't work on your own dumps or any other uploads of the update.
• You can verify the checksum value of your CIA is the same as the following value (xDelta patch will corrupt it if it is the wrong file).
• To check, run WinMD5 and type md5sum <File Name> in a terminal (again only continue if it the right file).
• MD5 Checksum Value: 52e1505367d5b0dadb78eee64254a30c.

Apply TLE patch:

• Extract the contents of the TLE patch inside the xDelta Patch folder to the same location of your CIA.
• Open DeltaPatcherLite.exe (if you're using a mac you can use MultiPatch instead of DeltaPatcher).
• Enter your CIA as the original file and enter the "TLE Base Patch.xdelta" file as the patch.
• Apply the patch and you're done.

Apply optional patches:

• If you would like any of the optional patches open the "Optional xDelta Patches" folder and apply one patch to your CIA with TLE (not your original CIA).
• Read the README.txt for a list of features in every optional patch and screenshots of the recolors are in the Previews folder.
• Now you can either install the CIA to your 3DS with FBI or, if you're using Citra, you can navigate to File > Install CIA and install your update.
• Since this is only a CIA of the update for Trio of Towns, you'll have to get the base game on your own.

Building a CIA

The following guide details how to rebuilt the 1.1 update CIA with TLE merged in it. If you were able to install the path with the xDelta methods, then you do not have to do any of this.​

Preparation:

• Get a CIA of Trio of Town's 1.1 update by either dumping your own copy with GodMode9 or other means.
• Decrypt your CIA with GodMode9 or Batch CIA 3DS Decryptor.
• Download Ctrtools and Makerom as well as Romfs Builder and Exinjector, place all files in the same place as your CIA.
• Open Powershell by right-clicking the folder while holding shift, then enter the commands below one by one:
  • (Note 1: If your CIA is named totupdate.cia then when using Powershell you would type .\ctrtool --contents=contents totupdate.cia.)
  • (Note 2: The biggest contents file was named contents.0000.00000002 so it probably will be for you too.)

Apply TLE patch:

• If you haven't already, download TLE's patch files and extract the contents inside the "Patch Files" folder to the location of your romfs and CIA and overwrite.
  • If you are using/planning to use the Hamtaro & Cheburashka Patch, go into the "Optional Patches" folder and move the files from the "Hamtaro Compatibility Patch" to your romfs folder and overwrite.
  • If you haven't already, also take the files from the restoration patch and move them into your romfs folder and overwrite.
  • If you want to use one of the optional patches, read the README.txt in your romfs folder and follow its instructions.
• Open Romfs Builder, choose your romfs folder, and rebuild your romfs naming it "romfs.bin".
• Open your terminal again and enter these commands one by one:

User guide

If installed correctly, the title screen should now have a rainbow in the background, and all of the bachelors and bachelorettes should have the flower showing their FP by their names.

Talk to a candidate of the same gender of your farmer to check if the patch is working.
