SV Capture, also known as Screen\Video Capture Module, is a plugin that is capable of performing video capture PSP's screen using GIF format (image sequences) or take screenshots with a push of a button.

The plugin is an adaption from the Video Recorder feature from the GTA Liberty City Stories CheatDevice by Edison Carter and is modified into a prx module by ADePSP.

Installation

Copy the file capture.ini and capture.prx to the seplugins folder of the Memory Stick.

Edit vsh.txt, game.txt in the same seplugins folder (create them if not already there) and add the line

ms0:/seplugins/capture.prx

Restart in Recovery Mode and enable the plugin.

User guide

You can take full GIF capture of the screen using the Advanced Mode or mini screen captures using Normal Mode.

  • Normal Mode (240x136) - Half the screen size.
  • Advanced Mode (480x272) - Can use either Full-size (default) or Quarter (skip a quarter of frames).

Video files will be saved to ms0:/VIDEO; BMP screenshots will be saved to ms0:/PICTURE/.

The locations of the screenshots, video files and key assisgments are configurable in the capture.ini file.

Configuration

You can change any of the following settings in the file capture.ini.

  • ScreenShot - Button assignment for Taking screenshots.
  • VideoStartNormal - Button assignment for capturing video in Normal mode.
  • VideoStartAdvanced - Button assignment for capturing video in Advanced mode.
  • VideoStop - Button assignment to stop recording.
  • VideoAdvancedMode - FULL_SIZE (full-size video) or QUARTER_SIZE (skip a quarter of frames).
  • Delay - Period of time each subsequent frame will be captured. Default is 100 (milliseconds).
  • Overwrite - Whether to overwrite existing video/screenshot when you record new ones. Default to YES.
  • PhotoDir - Location for screenshot. Default is ms0:/PICTURE.
  • VideoDir - Location for video. Default is ms0:/VIDEO.

It is recommended you use Normal Mode or Advanced Mode in QUARTER_SIZE for videos as advanced mode in FULL_SIZE slows the game down a lot and makes it difficult to play.

The animated GIF files are uncompressed so make sure you have plenty of Memory Stick space in order to store them (if you run out of space the module will simply stop running/recording).

Controls

Note - Image Capture, Stop recording

Note+R - Begin recording in Normal Mode

Note+R+L - Begin recording in Advanced Mode

Compatibility

Tested and works on the following Custom Firmwares:

2.71 SE-C
3.40 OE-A
3.52 M33-3/4
3.80 M33-2
3.90 M33
4.01 M33
5.00m33-4

Known issues

The module may not work in games on 2.71 SE-C unless you enable Plain modules in UMD/ISO (Recovery Mode -> Advanced -> Advanced configuration).

The module, if enabled in the XMB for DevHook 0.51 Beta when emulating Firmware 3.01 will crash if you try to load a game or homebrew so this has been disabled by the installer and left out of the manual instructions. This means there is no emulated XMB capture on 3.01 (by default).

The module will be disabled when running Homebrew on 2.71 SE-C. This is to prevent crashing. You can DevHook to emulate 1.5 Firmware which will allow you to capture screenshots and GIF videos of Homebrew apps.
