Save files from the original Japanese game should work with this patch. However, it is a precaution to backup your save files.
To apply the patch (see here for detailed instructions):
- Run TMGS3_20150614_patcher.exe and then drag and drop your clean ROM on the program window.
- Wait until you see the pop-up window informing that patching is done.
- Your English patched will be in the same folder as your clean ROM.
The latest DAT update on YSMenu already covered TMGS3 English patch for DS, so if you are using YSMenu (TTMenu) and can't play the patched game, please make sure it is updated to the latest DAT (you need RetroGameFan DAT Update v7.03 6536+).

Known issues
Names being cut off:
- When you select some characters' names, some of the names are cut. The names only got cut in the selection screen, they will display correctly in the dialog box so don't worry about it.
- Hanasubaki- will be displayed as Hanasubaki-san, and Shitara-semp as Shitara-sempai in normal dialogs.
