While Castlevania Portrait of Ruin is a direct sequel of Castlevania Bloodlines of the mega-drive, it bears little resemblance to the predecessor, and this hack aims to fix that, adding new Songs, Weapons, mechanics, graphics and more.

The hack contains three patches, you can apply either one using Floating IPS or Lunar IPS.
Patch 1 - Portrait of Bloodlines RP:
- Original idea and contents by Redpack (RP). This is how CVPOBL was intended.
- Contains changes to music, equipment, subweapons, and enemy palettes.
- The goal is to make CVPOR more like Bloodlines. it is not really mentioned as a sequel to Bloodlines, but all of the story says it should be.
Patch 2 - Portrait of Bloodlines SW:
- All additions for this patch were recommended to RP by StarWyvern (SW).
- More enemy palette changes.
- New palettes for Jonathan and Char to match those od John Morris and Eric LeCarde.
- Some changes to equipment values, a new model for a certain weapon, and a new weapon usable by Jonathan and Charlotte.
Patch 3 - Portrait of Bloodlines SW + Clare:
- Contains everything that the second patch contains, say for a few major changes.
- Huge Equipment Boost. Richter is replaced by Sonia.
- Maria is replaced by Carrie Fernadez (Credits to Serio, Drameloch, Iamme, for sprites and DF).
- Some of the enemy palettes are reverted.
