notenogram (read as "note-nogram") is a chill analog-styled Gameboy Advance picross/nonogram/hanjie/griddler game, with some gameplay elements inspired by Battle Picross by Sean Reid.

It was made with Butano for GBA Jam 2022 (3rd place).

Features

  • 12 original 12x12 picross puzzles to solve.
  • Cringy Japanese anime girl voice clips provided by kva64.
  • Story mode with three different endings decided by your picross solving skills.
  • Creator mode that allows making puzzles and sharing them via GBA save files (not tested on flashcarts).
  • Original character cameos of some sort.

Controls

A - Color the square the pen cursor is pointing at/confirm option

B - Cross out the square/exit menu

D-Pad - Move the cursor

Select - Exit puzzle screen

Start (creator mode) - Save current puzzle (see known issues)

L/R (creator mode) - Toggle custom puzzle slots in save memory to write to (only three slots available, writing to occupied slots will overwrite them without notifying)

Hint: Pressing and holding a directional key while holding A or B on the picross grid will mark otherwise empty squares as either colored or crossed out in the selected direction.
