GBC-spelunky is an attempt to demake Spelunky 2 for Game Boy Color. This project resulted in a playable version, albeit as an endless runner due to ambitious goals and content cuts. Some rough edges may exist due to rushed development in the final weeks, but the game features a complete character controller, robust entity system, and functional level generation and auto-tiling.

Developed using Emulicious, hUGETracker and RGBDS for Game Boy Competition 2021.

Installation

Run it in your preferred Game Boy / Game Boy Color emulator. You can also transfer it to a flashcart and play it on real hardware.

User guide

You get 4 hearts, and from there you're on your own. Make it as far as you can into the game, collecting as much gold as possible. You get 1 minute and 30 seconds to complete each level, or your game will end.

The game does not save your scores, so if you want to keep track, you're gonna have to do that manually.
