Captain Rainbow is a 2008 Wii game developed by Skip Ltd and published by Nintendo, only released in Japan and Taiwan. This action adventure game has you in the role of a once popular Toku star, now left to fade in obscurity with newer Toku heroes taking his place. Follow his tale as his life changes when he lands on the island of the legendary Kirakin crystals.

The patch is no longer in the works, but the English translation is (~95%) complete.

Installation

There are 2 patches available:

CRPatch_V1_10-30-2017 - ISO patch.
CR_Riiv_Patch_20171030 - Riivolution patch provided by oc_jcs_fan.

ISO patch

Place your ISO into the same folder as PATCH.bat.

Double-click on PATCH.bat to run it.

Riivolution patch

What do you need to play it:

An original Captain Rainbow Wii game disc.
Riivolution patch (it includes the latest version of Riivolution as boot.elf)
An SD card to use with your Wii
An exploit to run Riivolution - LetterBomb is the easiest for a Wii updated to version 4.3, and is used in the example steps below.

Steps to use:

Unzip the contents of the Riivolution patch and copy them to the root of your SD card.
Replace the private/ folder from the patch contents (which is empty) with your Letterbomb private/ folder.
Insert the SD card into your Wii.
Power on your Wii and insert your Captain Rainbow disc.
Run Letterbomb to execute Riivolution.
When Riivolution runs, it is recommended that you choose "Install" to install it as a channel on your Wii. You can uninstall it later at anytime.
The "Translation" option in Riivolution should default to "Enabled", and if so just click "Launch" to play the game.

Note: If you choose to install the Riivolution channel, you no longer need to use Letterbomb and can delete your Letterbomb private/ folder from the SD card (Please remember that anytime you use homebrew you are doing so at your own risk).

User guide

A mix between Captain Falcon, Yatterman and hallucinatory mushroom's effects, it's him, the fabulous Captain Rainbow! Obviously bore from the ingenious minds of Skip, the creators of funny dream games like Chibi Robo and Giftpia, stuff for true cognoscenti.

Like in every other game by Skip, the main theme is other people' happiness. The main character is able to transform into a superhero by means of a special belt, but when he starts to become outdated, he decides to set sail for a mythical isle where dreams can -supposedly- come true.

In the beginning his only purpose is to regain his old fame, but day after day, after getting acquainted with the islanders, he will forget about his regrets and realize that the important thing of being a great hero is not the fame, but helping others selflessly.

Warnings: Since Captain Rainbow might be too awesome to bear, this game is not recommended for the faints of heart.
