I initially attempted to create a Wii version of '''Sonic 2 CX''' shortly after it was first released, but was unable to improve it. However, as it is now Sonic's 30th anniversary, I have decided to share it. I was particularly interested in developing a Wii version of the romhack, as it uses a custom Genesis Plus GX core, making the Wii an ideal platform for it. My main focus was to add widescreen support, so I kept the modifications minimal.

The package includes an HBC-ready application, and an IPS patch for a clean Sonic 2 ROM. The patch is unique as it removes analog stick support, which allows it to work with digital input again. Instructions on how to use the patch are provided in the readme file.

It is important to note that the patch does not have to be applied manually, as the emulator will apply it automatically.

This is only a part of Sonic 2 Community's Cut AKA Sonic 2 CX as not all the features are included.

Features not included:
*OGG music, WAV sfx.
*Analog stick ("walking") support.
*Special Stage background is glitched but playable.

I initially attempted to create a Wii version of Sonic 2 CX shortly after it was first released, but was unable to improve it.

  • OGG music, WAV sfx.
  • Analog stick ("walking") support.
  • Special Stage background is glitched but playable.
