CTGP Revolution is a modification for Mario Kart Wii that includes over 200 new tracks and various additional features. The mod was created by MrBean35000vr and Chadderz, with contributions from multiple track creators, translators, and testers.

CTGP-R allows you to enjoy new and remade tracks both offline and online with a global community. It features:

  • Over 150 custom tracks.
  • More than 60 retro tracks from previous games.
  • Wiimmfi support for online play after Nintendo WFC shutdown.
  • Compatibility with both Wii and Wii U's vWii mode.
  • User-friendly Wii Channel interface.
  • Daily active user base in the thousands.

CTGP-R version 1.03 was released in January 2014 and has undergone continuous updates since. It includes:

  • New game modes like Countdown and Item Rain.
  • 200cc engine class with brake drifting.
  • Online time trial leaderboards for all tracks.
  • Customizable cup layout.
  • 'My Stuff' mod system for additional mods.
  • Automatic updates.
  • Support for 9 languages including Japanese.

Homebrew Channel

What you need:

  • Mario Kart Wii game disk.
  • SD card (it should have at least 1GB of space free, SD tends to work better than SDHC).
  • Modded Wii with Homebrew Channel installed.

Instructions:

  • Download CTGP-R.
  • Extract it to your SD card.
  • Launch the Homebrew Channel on the Wii.
  • Insert the SD card into the Wii.
  • Select the CTGP-R Channel from the Homebrew Menu.

Riivolution Channel

What you need:

  • Mario Kart Wii game disk.
  • SD card (it should have at least 1GB of space free, SD tends to work better than SDHC).
  • Modded Wii with Riivolution installed.

Instructions:

  • Download CTGP-R.
  • Extract it to your SD card.
  • Launch the Homebrew Channel on the Wii.
  • Insert Mario Kart Wii into the Wii.
  • Launch the Riivolution Channel on the Wii.
  • Press "Launch Game" in Riivolution.

To access CTGP-R more conveniently in future it is recommended clicking the "Add CTGP-R Channel" button to create a shortcut in the Wii menu. Otherwise you will have to launch the Homebrew Channel to start CTGP-R each time.

Automatic Updates

If you lack internet connectivity on your Wii or prefer manual updates, you can download updates for v1.03 from the Updates page. Simply download the update and place it in the root directory of your SD card. The next time you launch the CTGP-R channel, you'll be prompted to update. You can install multiple updates in this way.

Note that manual updates do not allow you to "skip" versions. For example, if you want to upgrade from v1.03.0024 to v1.03.0028, you must also download the v1.03.0026 update files in sequence. The best practice is to download updates in order.

The 216 "normal" tracks can be seen here.

Hidden Tracks

Along with the 216 visible tracks shown above, two tracks can only be accessed with codes while creating a custom track layout.

The first track, N64 Rainbow Road, can only be accessed with the code UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, HOME/START.

The second one, Star Slope, can only be accessed with the code LEFT, UP, RIGHT, LEFT, UP, RIGHT, HOME/START.
