IP-Cam Viewer is a homebrew application for the Nintendo 3DS/2DS that displays live video from Android devices running IP Webcam or IP Webcam Pro. Originally created as a Proof-of-Concept, it is now in active development as a Beta release.
The application streams video over Wi-Fi from a host Android device to the 3DS upper screen. The recommended host-app resolution is 320×240 for smooth performance. The upper screen (400×240) will display the same 320×240 image.
Features
- Live video streaming from IP Webcam / IP Webcam Pro devices.
- Torch control (if available on the host device).
- LSD/Mushroom Mode - press Select to swap byte order for a colorful, trippy visual effect.
Requirements
- Nintendo 3DS or 2DS (with homebrew access).
- Android device with IP Webcam or IP Webcam Pro installed.
- Wi-Fi network access (both devices must be on the same network).
- Recommended host-app resolution: 320×240 for best performance.
Installation
Available in 3DSX and CIA formats.
- CIA - Install the .cia file using a CIA manager such as FBI.
- 3DSX - Place the .3dsx file in the appropriate directory and launch it via the Homebrew Launcher.
Controls
- Select - Toggle LSD/Mushroom Mode (swaps byte order for visual effect).
- X - Toggle flash/torch (unstable, see Known Issues).
Known Issues
- The flash function (triggered by pressing X) is unstable: it may hang the first time. After rebooting, it may work, but could fail again on subsequent reboots. This is expected to be fixed in a future update.
- Beta software; minor bugs or occasional crashes are possible.
Notes
- Only compatible with IP Webcam / IP Webcam Pro as host apps on Android.
- Higher resolutions than 320×240 work but are not required.
