The (unofficial) DethKarz remake is a fan-made remake of the 1998 futuristic racing game DethKarz (originally developed by Melbourne House), built from the ground up in Unity by LachsProducktions. It features new graphics, physics, and modern platform support for Windows, Android, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Vita. The project is currently in early pre-alpha development.
The original DethKarz is set in 2408 AD, where elite racers compete at exotic locations around the world and beyond in fusion-powered racing machines equipped with plasma artillery and various powerups such as turbo boosters, homing missiles, and stealth capability. The original game features 4 settings with 3 tracks each, 4 cars with 3 levels each, plus a secret car. The remake aims to recreate all of these features and more.
This is purely a fan project and is not affiliated with Melbourne House or Ziggurat Interactive (who later rereleased the original game). The DethKarz speedrunning community assisted the developer with obtaining the original tracks, textures, and models.
