Giddy 3 is a fantastic platform puzzle game that was initially released in 2001 for MS-DOS. Last year, the source code was acquired and converted to C, making this version specifically designed for the Nintendo Wii. This is not just a port, but a complete rewrite.

The Game

In the game, the world is being threatened by robot stompers from beyond the clouds, and it's up to you, as the egg-shaped super hero Giddy with large hands, to save the day. Explore strange scenes, avoid enemies, and collect items to solve puzzles and complete objectives. Along the way, look out for replenishing food items to maintain your energy level.

Installation

To play Giddy 3 on your Wii, you'll need a Nintendo Wii console with the Homebrew Channel installed, an SD Card, and the ability to write files to the SD Card. Simply copy the "apps" directory to the root of the SD Card, and you're ready to play!

FAQ

  • Q. What, no save game option?

A. We didnt have save game options when I were a lad.

  • Q. Its too hard innit?

A. Quite a few people say this at first but eventually come to agree that its about right. Some tips: Guard every energy point you have and dont go blundering into things. Learn the optimum route to take - dont go anywhere where you dont need to UNTIL you need to. Look out for hidden extra lives (places you can reach that you might not think you can etc).

  • Q. I'm really stuck!

A. Well there are no situations you can get into that renders the game impossible to complete. PS: You can enter the Tardis without any special objects, just jump in the door is open :)

  • Q. What happened to Giddy1 and 2?

A. They were released on the Amiga home computer in the early 1990's (You can get them free from my website to run under an Amiga emulator on the PC).
