DSNotes is an application for the Nintendo DS, designed to provide a way to quickly jot down and save notes or small sketches. The program has been designed for lightning-quick saving, browsing, and loading of notes.

It was an entry into the GBAX Coding Comp 2007.

Features

  • Supports black and white images.
  • Different pencil and eraser sizes to select with.
  • Full-fledged paint program.
  • Drawing sound effects.
  • Each saved bitmap is only 6kb in size.

Installation

Download and extract file.

Copy file to your DS's apps folder.

Note: DSNotes uses DLDI for reading/writing files, so be sure to patch the program appropriately for your device.

User guide

On the bottom screen, you have the drawing program, which has a stylus-based toolbar (contains pencils, erasers, muli-level undo/redo, and clear screen).

On the top screen you have a browser to view any saved files. When you save a file, the filename is generated automatically based on the current date and time. The files in the top-screen browser are sorted by date (newest first).

All notes are stored in the folder named DSNotes in the root directory of your card (it will be created automatically if it doesn't exist).
