This is a (wip) DS/DSi port of fake-08, a cross-platform Pico 8 player/emulator by jtothebell.

Pico-8 is a virtual gaming console and game development platform known for its simplicity and accessibility. Developed by Lexaloffle Games, it replicates the nostalgic aesthetics of early computing systems, offering users a virtual experience reminiscent of classic 8-bit visuals and graphics.

Installation

Download FAKE-08 DS here, it contains the .nds file and a compilation of pico-8 games put together by Indy13. (see game list)

Copy the p8carts folder on the root of your SD Card.

You can put the .nds file anywhere on your SD Card.

User guide

Use D-Pad to select the game you want to launch and press A to launch the game.

For an optimized experience, before launching a game, access the settings by pressing Start:

• In Audio, set Channel Count to "off" for a slight speed improvement.
• In Video, set Stretch Mode to "stretch to fill" or press Select twice to enhance visibility.

Left/Right - Cycle through carts (by 1)

Up/Down - Cycle through carts (by 10)

A - Choose a cart

In game:

D-Pad - Movement

A - X

B - O

Start - Open the menu

Select - Cycle between rendering sizes

Compatibility

Good performance on DSi; however there is still issue with audio quality.

Notable speed challenges on the original DS.
