L4T Fedora is a Linux distribution that offers a fast, stable, and secure operating system for various devices, including the Nintendo Switch. Fedora for Switch is a project by AzkaliManad that patches the Linux kernel to run on all Switch models using the L4T BSP. This means that Fedora can take advantage of the Nvidia drivers and hardware acceleration on the Switch. Fedora for Switch allows you to run a full desktop environment, access thousands of software packages, and enjoy some Switch games and programs natively on your device. If you are looking for a new way to experience your Switch, you can try Fedora for Switch today!

Installation

Prerequisites:

  • hekate 6.0.3 or newer.
  • A 16GB SD Card MINIMUM (Recommended: 128GB and up U3 or U3/A2 class)
  • A computer (for backing up and extracting the installation files)
  • Latest L4T Fedora rootfs.

Here are the steps to install Fedora on Nintendo Switch:

  • Download the Fedora image for Switch from here.
  • Extract the .7z file and copy the contents to a microSD card formatted as FAT32.
  • Insert the microSD card into your Switch and boot into RCM mode using a jig or a modchip.
  • Use a payload injector such as TegraRCMGUI or fusee-launcher to launch hekate_ctcaer_5.6.6.bin from the bootloader folder on your microSD card.
  • Select Linux from the hekate menu and then select Fedora.
  • Wait for Fedorato boot up and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your system.
    • During L4T Fedora initial setup you need to create a user account.
      • For prompts, the on screen keyboard can be shown by swiping your finger from the bottom of the screen upwards otherwise docking works.
      • It is mandatory to boot and a root account is not sufficiant.
      • You may additionally setup a network connection and your timezone.
      • The initial setup installer can seem to hang but let it exit gracefully by simply waiting long enough (up to 30 seconds approximately)
  • Make sure any existing online updates are done via Software application or dnf command.
    • You can now proceed to restore your backup as mentionned in the last step of the ubuntu guide.
  • Enjoy Fedora on your Switch!
