This tool modifies the eShop releases of Super Mario 64 DS on the Wii U to enable Analog Stick inputs with full analog range. It assigns character movement to Left Analog Stick, and camera rotation to the D-Pad and Right Analog Stick. Also, it removes touchscreen camera control buttons for a clean map on the lower screen.

Installation

Requirements:

  • Official Super Mario 64 DS (USA) Virtual Console release installed on your Wii U.
  • Custom Firmware (CFW) on your Wii U (Mocha, Haxchi, Tiramisu, etc).

How to setup:

  • Ensure the Super Mario 64 DS Virtual Console title is installed, and place the patcher on your Wii U's SD card.
  • Run AM64DS patcher from the Homebrew Launcher, confirm patching Super Mario 64 DS.

(Optional) Widescreen support and remap controls:

Notes:

  • If using Haxchi or CBHC installed on SM64DS, avoid installing the AM64DS patch on the Haxchi-patched title, as it may break Haxchi and potentially brick the Wii U if CBHC is used. If you are using SM64DS for Haxchi or CBHC, see these suggestions to get AM64DS working.
  • To uninstall the AM64DS patch, delete SM64DS from Data Management in System Settings and redownload/reinstall the game.

Changelog

v1.0.0 2021/12/20

  • First stable release of the tool. This has been tested working using both Mocha and Haxchi CFWs, and the patch has been tested working on all three eShop releases of SM64DS.
  • If you are using an official eShop release of the game, it should appear after the first scan when running the tool. If you are trying to patch a title installed to a non-standard Title ID (for example, a ROM Injection title), then you need to select Perform Full System Scan before it will appear in the tool.
