Dumpling is an all-in-one Wii U file dumper designed to simplify the process of dumping games and files for popular emulators like Cemu.

Features

  • Dumps titles, updates, and DLC from both physical and digital formats.
  • All dumps are decrypted for easy use with Cemu.
  • Creates 1:1 copies of data with proper meta data.
  • Allows dumping to a FAT32 formatted SD or USB storage device.
  • Allows you to dump system applications too.
  • Dump all the files needed for Cemu online play.
  • Can be run without an SD card.

Installation

Preparation:

  • A Wii U with the Homebrew Launcher installed,
  • A FAT32 formatted USB storage device or SD card (32GB or higher).

Method 1 via Internet Browser:

  • Open the Internet Browser on the Wii U.
  • Go to dumplingapp.com to launch Dumpling.
  • In the event of a console freeze lasting beyond 10 seconds, perform a reboot (hold the Power button for 4 seconds). Once rebooted, delete the browser's history (from Internet Browser's Setting > Reset Save Data) and try again,

Method 2 via Homebrew Launcher:

  • Download the latest release.
  • Extract the dumpling.zip file to the root of your SD card.

For using it with cemu please refer to the guide on cemu.cfw.guide.

Changelog

v2.6.4 2023/04/07

  • Hotfix for .rpx files on discs resulting in an error.

v2.6.3 2023/04/06

  • Use product code when (some) japanese titles can't be used as folder name.
  • Fix softlock when starting dumps with no games/updates/DLC present.
  • Update to new devkitPPC version.

v2.6.2 2023/01/20

  • Fix bug where you couldn't dump online files for non-ascii usernames. They'll now be stored using alternative folder names.
  • Decreased Dumpling's binary size by using libschrift instead of freetype2 for font rendering.
  • Optimized font rendering so that it's now 2x faster. This doesn't really improve dumping speed, although it might feel more responsive overall.
  • Thanks to @Maschell for telling me about libschrift!

v2.6.1 2022/11/06

  • Fix bug where if you had 12 Wii U accounts (which is the maximum amount allowed) the last one wouldn't show up. Thanks @jbmagination for finding and fixing this!

v2.6.0 2022/10/24

  • Add official Aroma support and .wuhb releases.
    • Added a new home menu icon and boot screen, made by @emiyl.
    • Exiting while using Aroma should no longer result in a black screen.
  • Major rework of file transferring code, resulting in a massive speed improvement.
    • Games with tons of files now dump up to 12x faster (e.g. Breath of the Wild which takes 25 minutes instead of 4+ hours)!
    • All games benefit from a good 2-3x improvement!
    • This was possible using a multithreaded writing process (thanks @Xpl0itU and @wchill!) and adding Dumpling-specific fat32 caching methods (thanks @Exzap for helping).
  • Now uses fatfs instead of libfat.
    • Adds support for exfat drives.
    • Much improved USB drive support so that previously unrecognized USB drives now work.
    • Allows for the now multithreaded file dumping.
  • Fixed jumpy dumping speed and estimated dumping time while dumping.
  • Show total time after successful dump.
  • Cleaned up multiple menus into a singular, more explanatory option menu.
  • Can now optionally delete incomplete files if an error occurred or if you cancel while dumping.
  • Fix inverted option to only dump the disc files but not the update/DLC.
  • Thanks to Tomk007 and Jaimie for helping me test all of the experimental optimizations!

Contributors:

v2.5.0 2022/08/01

  • Uses new libmocha instead of libiosuhax, improving speed and stability.
    • Thanks Maschell and GaryOderNichts!
  • Give more and improved error messages
    • Finally fixes discs producing incomplete dumps without showing any errors!
  • Improve dumping speeds by 1.5x and more to come!
  • Allow only dumping disc files without updates/DLC to speed up dumping times by:
    • Dump updates/DLC all at once later to have to wait shorter between swapping discs.
    • Using DumpsterU, Cemu's online features or an existing MLC dump instead.

v2.4.3 2022/06/08

  • Fix save files not being picked up.

v2.4.2 2022/06/01

  • Fix .rpx files only being partially dumped for disc games! More permanent fix in the next proper release.

v2.4.1 2022/05/18

  • Fix multiple disc dumping.
  • Add some filesystem fixes found by Maschell.
  • ... and some more fixes!

v2.4.0b 2022/03/15

  • Enable dumping (digital) wii games!
    • Note that Tiramisu users will be asked to enable it since it involves stopping Tiramisu temporarily.
    • Since vWii games are stored in .nfs files, you'll need to use nfs2iso2nfs to convert them into .iso files for Dolphin, at least for the time being.
  • Much improved errors for file copying. Maybe discs are easier to dump, so let me know!
  • Added option to choose whether to ignore file copying errors in the hopes that those files aren't important/overwritten by an update.
  • A lot of other changes under the hood with regards to how files are accessed so let me know if anything's wrong!
    • Disc dumping regressions were found in version 2.4.0a causing it to be revoked, these are fixed in this hotfix release.
