Sunshell is a multifunction shell for 3DS, inspired by Ahman's work on irShell for PSP.

This homebrew is coded in C and Lua, with the scripts run under lpp-3ds (Lua Player Plus 3DS) which provides a modules system for developers to easily add their homebrews (both C and Lua homebrews) to Sunshell modules, so their applications will be shown in Sunshell Main Menu. Final goal for this homebrew is to provide an universal alternative menu for 3DS.

Note: This homebrew is no longer in development.

Installation

Contains CIA, 3DXS and 3DS builds (use either one).

  • 3DSX - Copy .3dxs and .smdh to the /3ds/Sunshell/ folder on your SD card, launch with homebrew loader.
  • CIA - Copy .cia to your SD card and install with CIA manager of your choice.
  • 3DS - Copy .3ds to your SD card.

Setup:

  • Copy config.sun file from Common Files folder to the root of your SD card.
  • Open config.sun file with a Text Editor and set your preferred main_dir (default as /3ds/Sunshell for 3DSX).
  • Copy folders from Common Files to your main_dir.
  • Copy sun_index.lua file from Common Files to the same directory of your build executable (SD root for 3DS/CIA).

For video, music and photos:

  • Video files must be put in VIDEO folder.
  • Music files must be put in MUSIC folder (support subfolders as Music categorization system).
  • Photos must be put in DCIM folder (support also subfolders).

User guide

Add homebrews to Sunshell

Since Sunshell runs under lpp-3ds, you can use Lua homebrews as pre-installed homebrews reducing the filesize of these homebrews by deleting the 3DSX/CIA/3DS executable.

To do this, create a folder in apps folder named as the Homebrew name and place all the homebrew contents inside it. At the end, create a data.lua file with these information inside:

app_desc = "Description of the homebrew"
app_author = "Homebrew author"

A list of Lua homebrews can be found here.
